While Team India has to tour South Africa in December, the T20 World Cup is also to be played next year, for which only about 7 months are left.

Top BCCI officials talked to Rahul Dravid

Top BCCI officials spoke to Rahul Dravid about his future plans. The board is considering handing over this responsibility to a new person keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2024, in which the name of National Cricket Academy (NCA) Director VVS Laxman is at the forefront. A BCCI source said in a statement to PTI that Rahul and the board discussed the current situation. We will respect his decision. Well, everyone feels that the T20 World Cup is going to be held in seven-eight months, so it will take time for a new coach to come and form a team and decide on a process. Dravid also understands this thing much better. We are also discussing whether the coordination between the current coach and captain will be needed in the T20 World Cup or not. We are hoping to reach a decision soon so that there is complete clarity going forward.

Laxman may get responsibility

At present, VVS Laxman's name is being said to be at the forefront in the race to become the next head coach of Team India. The BCCI source further said in its statement that our options for the head coach are open. Laxman is familiar with the team, players and training methods.
