Maharashtra Politics: Eknath Shinde has won the first floor test in the assembly after toppling the Uddhav government. BJP's Rahul Narvekar has been appointed as the new speaker in the assembly. BJP has got more than 164 votes and counting is still going on. On the demand of the opposition, the Deputy Speaker had started the counting of MLAs. There are 287 MLAs in the assembly and a magic figure of 144 was needed to win.

BJP MLAs have raised slogans of Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji and Jai Shri Ram inside the assembly. On speaker election, NCP's Jayant Patil said that elections are being held now, but we were demanding since when. Now I understand why the election has not happened till now?

Shiv Sena's office sealed, both factions issued whip

In view of the ruckus in Shiv Sena, its office inside the assembly has been sealed. Sunil Prabhu on behalf of Uddhav Thackeray and Bharat Gogawale on behalf of Eknath Shinde issued the whip.
