IPL: The 14th edition Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence from September 19 in the UAE. All eight teams have begun preparations for the same. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a good first half of IPL where they won five games and currently sit pretty on the third position in the points table.

Their squad members are touching down in UAE gradually, as skipper Virat Kohli and lead pacer Mohammed Siraj reached Dubai on Monday. They resume their IPL 2021 by facing off against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 20. But the RCB members will not don their traditional red jerseys. Instead, they sport the blue ones and give a tribute to the frontline warriors for their thankless service during the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

RCB took to their official Twitter page to confirm this news and posted a video of the same. “We at RCB are honored to sport the Blue kit, that resembles the color of the PPE kits of the frontline warriors, to pay tribute to their invaluable service while leading the fight against the Covid pandemic,” read their tweet.

RCB are known to support initiatives and noble cause as the team sports a green jersey to support environmental cause every year. And this year, the team wishes to sport a blue one and lead by example.

Virat Kohli excited to work with newcomers to the RCB team

Speaking about RCB’s team, the franchise had to deal with the non-availability of players like Adam Zampa, Finn Allan, Daniel Sams and Kane Richardson for the UAE leg of IPL. But they have managed to fill in the void and have added the Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera, apart from roping in Tim David too. Virat Kohli is excited to work with new players in the UAE leg.

“The replacement players have great skillsets, especially in these conditions. Excited to see them with the whole group and to resume a very good season that we started last time around,” Kohli said in a video posted on RCB Twitter.
