RCB vs MI: Due to the explosive partnership of captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated five-time champions Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets in the 5th match of Indian Premier League-16. Opting to bat after losing the toss at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rohit Sharma's captaincy Mumbai Indians scored a challenging score of 171 for 7 in 20 overs with the help of a half-century from Tilak Verma (84 * runs).

Which was proved dwarf by Bangalore opener Virat Kohli (82 not out) and Faf du Plessis (73 runs). Virat Kohli scored 45th and captain Faf du Plessis scored 26th half-century. There was a 148-run partnership between the two. The target of 172 runs was achieved by Bengaluru for two wickets in 16.2 overs.

Kohli-du Plessis's opening partnership Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli made an opening partnership of 148 runs in 89 balls. Young bowler Arshad Khan broke this partnership.

Bengaluru openers dominated the power play

Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli got Bangalore off to a great start. There has been an opening partnership of 50+ between the two. Virat and Faf together added 53 runs in the first 6 overs.

Tilak Verma scored 84 not out, best in IPL; Mumbai scored 171 runs

Batting first, the team scored 171 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Tilak Verma played an unbeaten inning of 84 runs. He made the biggest score of his IPL career. Tilak has scored his third half-century. Nihal Wadhera contributed 21 runs. Earlier, Ishaan Kishan 10, Cameron Green 5, Rohit Sharma 1 and Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed for 15 runs.

Karn Sharma got two wickets for RCB. Siraj, Tufli, Akashdeep, Harshal and Michael Bracewell got one wicket each.

Mumbai's top order flopped

Mumbai's top order came out to play first and flopped. Opener Rohit Sharma 1, Ishaan Kishan 10, Cameron Green 5 and Suryakumar were dismissed for 15 runs.

Mumbai lost 3 wickets in Powerplay

Batting first after losing the toss, Mumbai got off to a bad start. The team had to lose the wicket of Ishaan Kishan in the third over itself. In the very next over, Green was also bowled and in the last over of the powerplay, the team also lost the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma. The team could only manage 29 runs losing 3 wickets in 6 overs.

First: Third ball of the third over, Mohammad Siraj bowled a good length on the off stump. Ishaan Kishan goes to flick, but goes to Harshal Patel at third man. Ishaan scored 10 runs.

Second: Third ball of the fourth over, Reece Topley bowled a fuller length yorker. Cameron Green went bold on this. Green scored 5 runs.

Third: Second ball of the sixth over, Akash Deep bowled a good length on the off stump. The ball took the outside edge of Rohit Sharma's bat and went into the hands of wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. Rohit could score only one run by playing 10 balls.

Fourth: Fifth ball of the 9th over, Michael Bracewell bowled a good length on the off stump. Suryakumar Yadav went to cut, but was caught by Shahbaz Ahmed. Suryakumar scored 15 runs off 16 balls.

Fifth: Nihal hit the 5th ball of the 14th over at the hands of Virat Kohli. He was dismissed by Karn Sharma.

Sixth: Karn Sharma bowled Tim David on the third ball of the 16th over.

Seventh: On the first ball of the 18th over, Faf du Plessis caught Shokeen off Harshal Patel.

Return of jofra archer

Mumbai has kept Tim David, Joffra Archer, Cameron Green and Jason Behrdorf in their 4 overseas players. Archer could not be a part of the last season due to injury. He will play for the first time in Mumbai's jersey. Earlier he was a part of Rajasthan team. Behrendorff will join the team in the second innings as an impact player, while Green makes his IPL debut.

Bracewell's IPL debut from Bangalore

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell made his IPL debut for Bangalore. He has become a part of IPL for the first time, RCB has kept him as a replacement for Will Jaques. Apart from Bracewell, Bengaluru has 4 foreign players captain Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Reece Topley.
