Bengaluru Stampede: The ceremony organized after the historic victory of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2025 is now mired in controversy. After 11 people died and more than 50 were injured in a stampede during the Victory Parade and Honor Ceremony held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4, now major action has been taken in this matter. An FIR has been registered at Cubbon Park Police Station against many including RCB franchise, event management company DNA Entertainment, Administrative Committee of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).Allegations of criminal negligence, serious sections appliedThe FIR describes the stampede incident as a result of criminal negligence. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 105, 125 (1)(2), 132, 121/1, 190 r / w 3(5). These sections are related to allegations like endangering public safety, irregularities in the event and ignoring security measures.The High Court took suo motu cognizanceOn Thursday, the Karnataka High Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and issued a notice to the state government. A bench of Acting Chief Justice V. Kameswara Rao and Justice CM Joshi has asked the government to file a detailed status report by June 10. The court registered the issue as a PIL and expressed serious concern over the disregard of SOP.Statement of Shashi Kiran Shetty: "Not blame, solution is needed"State Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty told the court that due to the announcement of free entry for the event, a huge crowd had gathered, due to which the situation went out of control. He said that the government is looking at the matter from the point of view of solution rather than blame and a magisterial inquiry has already started, which will be completed in 15 days.Big lapse in security, disregard of SOPThe High Court clearly said that it was necessary to follow safety standards and SOP in such a big public event. The court also asked how many ambulances were on the spot and whether the organizers had information about the nearest hospitals. On this, the government admitted that the arrangements were inadequate.RCB announced compensationRCB franchise, in a statement issued after the incident, has announced an assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Along with this, a fund called RCB Cares has also been created, which will help in the treatment and support of the injured. The franchise described the accident as 'very painful' and expressed condolences to the affected families.Virat Kohli and the cricket world's reactionVirat Kohli, who was involved in the victory parade, expressed deep sorrow over the incident on social media. He wrote, "I have no words to say. This is very sad and heartbreaking." Other players also expressed regret over the incident and expressed condolences to the affected families.Victory celebration turned into mourningThe celebration of the first victory of the IPL trophy proved to be costly for Bangalore.
