Sanjau Samson may replace Shreyas Iyer: Team India batsman Shreyas Iyer has been dropped from the fourth Test match of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad. On the third day of the Test match, Iyer complained of back pain after which he was sent for a scan. According to the scan report, his back injury has emerged, after which it may be a risky decision for him to enter the field at the moment. In such a situation, a batsman can return to the team in place of Iyer in the ODI series.

This player will return to ODI team

Sanju Samson may return in the ODI series against Australia starting from March 17. Although, no decision has been taken regarding Iyer yet, but it is being speculated that if Shreyas Iyer does not play in the team, then Sanju Samson may get a chance in the team. After the fourth test is over, an immediate meeting of the BCCI selection committee headed by Shiv Sundar Das will be called in which a decision can be taken regarding Shreyas Iyer.

Sanju's figures in ODI cricket

Sanju Samson has got a chance to play 11 ODIs for India, in which he has scored 330 runs in 10 innings. He also has 2 half-centuries to his name. However, he does not have a century to his name yet. Samson played his last ODI against New Zealand in 2022 in which he scored 36 runs off 38 balls.

BCCI gave a statement

The BCCI has said in a statement regarding Shreyas Iyer that he has been kept under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. Let us tell you that even before this, Iyer could not play the ODI series against Sri Lanka and the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia due to a back injury. However, no official announcement has been made about his playing in the ODI series yet.
