Thane: Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale, accused of allegedly sharing objectionable remarks on social media regarding Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, has been sent to judicial custody till June 1 by a local court. Film and TV actress Chitale (29) was arrested by Thane police on Saturday for allegedly sharing some material on Facebook.

The post, written in the form of a poem, was allegedly written by someone else. It only mentioned the surname Pawar and 80 years of age. The Nationalist Congress Party chief is 81 years old.

The post allegedly used words like 'hell awaits' and 'you hate Brahmins' in reference to Sharad Pawar. It is worth noting that along with Shiv Sena and Congress, NCP is also included in the coalition government of Maharashtra. A local court on Sunday sent actress Chitale to police custody till May 18.

In this case, cases have been registered against Ketki under several charges including defamation and spreading hatred among people. Some NCP leaders have accused the BJP and the RSS of making derogatory remarks against Pawar on social media.

Besides Ketki Chitale, Nikhil Bhamre, a student in Maharashtra's Nashik district, was arrested for making objectionable remarks on Twitter against Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar.

Nikhil Bhamre wrote that, "The time has come to prepare 'Gandhi' for Baramati and Nathuram Godse for Baramati." "Uncle Baramati, sorry." This tweet has been liked and shared by many.
