Goa bar row: Smriti Irani has denied the allegations of Congress running the bar on her daughter. He targeted the Congress fiercely by holding a press conference. The Union Minister said that my daughter does not run the bar. He said that the Congress has murdered his daughter's character. The Congress had alleged that Union Minister Smriti Irani's daughter was running an "illegal bar" in Goa. Not only this, Congress also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani. Smriti Irani's daughter has also rejected these allegations of Congress.

Irani's daughter's lawyer Kirat Nagra had said that her client neither owns nor operates a restaurant named 'Silly Souls'. They have not even received any 'show cause notice'. Nagra said that wrong, malicious and derogatory social media posts are being made by many people with vested interests who are trying to gain political mileage along with his client's mother, eminent politician Smriti Irani.

Terming the allegations as baseless, the lawyer said, "It is unfortunate that they are spreading false propaganda only to sensationalise the pointless matter without verifying the facts and they are only trying to defame my client." Willing that she is the daughter of a leader. Congress released a paper claiming that a 'show cause notice' was issued to Smriti Irani's daughter by the Excise Department and the officer who gave the notice was allegedly being transferred.

Congress media and publicity chief Pawan Khera told reporters, "Serious allegations of corruption have been leveled against the family of Union Minister Smriti Irani. A restaurant run by his daughter in Goa has been accused of issuing fake licenses to serve liquor and this is not an allegation made by 'quoting sources' or agencies seeking political vendetta, but the Right to Information (RTI). The information received under RTI has been disclosed.

He claimed, "Union Minister Smriti Irani's daughter got 'bar licenses' issued by giving fake documents for her 'Silly Souls Cafe and Bar'." According to the Congress leader, 'Anthony DeGama', in whose name the application for renewal of license was made on 22 June 2022, has died in May last year itself. Anthony's Aadhaar card showed that he was a resident of Vile Parle in Mumbai. Their death certificate has also been received by the lawyer seeking information under RTI.

"It has also been revealed from the documents that bar licenses were issued without the restaurant license required for bar license," Khera claimed. He said, 'We demand from the Prime Minister that with immediate effect Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani should be sacked from the cabinet.' Responding to a question about Irani's attack on Rahul Gandhi, Khera said, "A good deed like running a newspaper cannot be compared to running an illegal bar in Goa." Everything was happening without his (Irani's) knowledge and would the license have been obtained without his influence?' He alleged that private security personnel have been deployed around the restaurant to prevent media access to it. He asked, 'We want to know from you that under whose influence all this is being done? Who is behind this illegal act?’
