IND vs SL / Team India got the ticket for the final - defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs

IND vs SL: India has entered the final of Asia Cup 2023. The team defeated defending champion Sri Lanka by 41 runs in its second Super-4 match. India won the toss and batted first and scored 213 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In reply, the Sri Lankan team was out for 172 runs in 41.3 overs.

Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets in powerplay

The Sri Lankan team, which came to chase the target of 214 runs, had a bad start. The team lost the wicket of Pathum Nissanka (6 runs) in the third over. Kusal Mendis (15 runs) tried to handle the innings, but he also became the victim of Bumrah in the 7th over. In the 8th over, Mohammed Siraj sent Dimuth Karunaratne (2 runs) to the pavilion. Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets after scoring 39 runs in the first 10 overs.

Third (Dimuth Karunaratne- 2 runs): Mohammed Siraj bowled the first ball of the 8th over to a good length outside the off stump. Karunaratne went to cut, but was caught by Shubman Gill at first slip.

Fourth (Sadeera Samarawickrama – 17 runs): Kuldeep Yadav bowled the third ball of the 18th over on a good length outside the off stump. Samarawickrama went forward to play a big shot, but was stumped out.

Fifth (Charith Asalanka- 22 runs): Kuldeep Yadav bowled the second ball of the 20th over fuller length on the leg stump. Asalanka attempted a sweep, but the ball remained standing in the air. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul dived and took the catch.

Sixth: (Dasun Shanaka - 9 runs): On the first ball of the 26th over, Jadeja got Dasun Shanaka caught by Rohit Sharma at slip.

Seventh: (Dhananjay de Silva – 41 runs): Jadeja got caught by Gill on the third ball of the 38th over. Played a fuller length ball on the middle stump at mid-on and was caught by Gill.

India gave target of 214 runs, Rohit's 51st fifty

Team India was all out in 49.1 overs after scoring 213 runs. For the first time in ODI history, the team lost all 10 wickets against spinners. Sri Lanka's left arm spinner Dunith Vellalage took 5 wickets and off spinner Charith Asalanka took 4 wickets. Whereas mystery spinner Mahish Teekshana got one wicket.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored the highest score of 53 runs. Rohit scored the 51st fifty of his ODI career. He also completed 10 thousand ODI runs. Apart from Rohit, KL Rahul contributed 39 runs and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan contributed 33 runs. Akshar and Siraj made a partnership of 26 runs for the last wicket.

Second: Virat Kohli (3 runs): Dunith Vellalaghe got caught by Dasun Shanaka on the 5th ball of the 14th over.

Third: Rohit Sharma (53 runs): Dunith Vellalaghe bowled the first ball of the 16th over.

Fourth: KL Rahul (39 runs): Dunith Vellalaghe was caught and bowled on the last ball of the 30th over.

Fifth: Ishan Kishan (33 runs): Charith Asalanka got caught by Dunith Vellalaghe in the 35th over.

Sixth: Hardik Pandya (5 runs): Dunith Vellalaghe got caught by wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis on the last ball of the 36th over.

Seventh: Ravindra Jadeja (4 runs): Charith Asalanka got caught by Kusal Mendis on the 5th ball of the 39th over.

Eighth: Jasprit Bumrah (5 runs): Charith Asalanka bowled the first ball of the 43rd over.

Ninth: Kuldeep Yadav (0 runs): Charith Asalanka got caught by Dhananjay de Silva on the second ball of the 43rd over.

Tenth: Akshar Patel (26 runs): Mahish Teekshana got caught by Sadira Samarawickrama on the first ball of the 50th over.

Play had to be stopped for 50 minutes due to rain

India-Sri Lanka match had to be stopped due to rain. 47 overs had been bowled in the Indian innings when rain came at 6:25 pm and the game had to be stopped. After some time the rain stopped and the match started again at 7:15. However, the umpires decided not to cut the overs and reduced the innings break time to 10 minutes.

Fifty partnership of Rahul-Ishaan took over

After the top order returned to the pavilion, wicketkeepers KL Rahul and Ishan took over India's innings. Both of them batted carefully and took the team's score from 100 to 150. Rahul was out after scoring 39 runs on 44 balls and the fifty partnership between the two was broken. Rahul and Ishaan made a partnership of 63 runs in 89 balls. After Rahul, Ishan Kishan also became the victim of Charith Asalanka after scoring 33 runs in 61 balls.

Rohit's third consecutive fifty

Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored his third consecutive fifty in ODI. This was the 51st fifty of Rohit's ODI career. Rohit scored 53 runs on 48 balls at a strike rate of 110.42. His innings included 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Rohit is the second fastest batsman to score 10 thousand runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma became the second fastest batsman in the world to score 10 thousand runs. The record of scoring the fastest 10 thousand runs is in the name of Virat Kohli. Kohli had completed 10 thousand runs in 205 innings, while Rohit took 241 innings.
