The third phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh is going to be very interesting. Polling for 59 seats in 16 districts is to be held on February 20. All these seats are necessary for both the major parties of the state, BJP and SP.

Many of these districts were once strongholds of the Samajwadi Party. In 2017, the BJP had made a dent in it. Then the BJP had won 49 out of these 59 assembly seats. This time, the challenge before the SP is to regain its stronghold, while the BJP has a challenge to repeat its previous record. In this phase, elections will be held in Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Etawah, Mainpuri, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur and Mahoba.

From former Chief Minister to Union Minister the fate is at stake

In the third phase of elections, former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Prof. Many veterans including SP Singh Baghel are themselves in the fray. The credibility of three ministers of the Yogi government is also at stake. Apart from this, Samdhi and brother of Mulayam Singh Yadav are also contesting in this phase. 1. Akhilesh vs. Baghel in Karhal

At present, the hottest seat in the entire UP is the Karhal assembly of Mainpuri. From here Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Modi cabinet minister Professor SP Singh Baghel are face to face. Pro. Baghel's political mentor is Akhilesh's father and SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav. Talking about the caste equation of Karhal, it has the highest number of 1.35 lakh Yadav voters. After this there are 35 thousand Shakya, 18 thousand Baghel, 12 thousand Lodhi, 18 thousand Brahmin, 25 thousand Dalit, 18 thousand Muslim voters. 2. In Shivpal Maidan from Jaswantnagar: Shivpal Singh Yadav is again in the electoral fray from Jaswantnagar in Etawah. Although Shivpal has formed Progressive Samaj Party, but he is contesting here on Samajwadi Party ticket. Shivpal has been completely sidelined by this election. Now he is not getting the attention in SP, as he used to get. Shivpal has mentioned this from an open platform. Recently he had said that he was asking for at least 100 seats, but got only one. In 2017 also Shivpal had won this seat.

3. From Sirsaganj to Mulayam's Samadhi Maidan: In politics, no one is friends and enemies. A direct example of this is being seen in the Sirsaganj assembly seat of Firozabad district. Here Hari Om Yadav, the friend of former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh, is busy puncturing the cycle. Hari Om, riding a saffron chariot, will be challenged by his own political disciple Sarvesh Yadav from the SP. To answer every move of Hari Om, SP has fielded Sarvesh. The atmosphere has been heated with both of them pitting against each other in the election field.

4. Yogi's minister's examination on Maharajpur seat: The battle of Maharajpur assembly seat of Kanpur Nagar district is also very interesting. From here BJP has again fielded minister Satish Mahana in the Yogi government. Mahana is a BJP MLA for the last 35 years. He has come down again to register victory for the 8th time. Whereas Samajwadi Party has given ticket to the 36-year-old Sikh candidate Fateh Bahadur from here. Mahana has been reaching the assembly by winning elections from here even in adverse circumstances. But this time, Fateh Bahadur of SP is working day and night to penetrate the fort of Mahana. By going home, Fateh is feeding people by touching their feet and making them vow to cast their votes.

5. Bhogaon Assembly of Mainpuri: BJP has made Yogi cabinet minister Ramnaresh Agnihotri as its candidate from this seat. This seat has always been occupied by the Samajwadi Party. For the last time after 1989, i.e. in 2017, for the first time, lotus blossomed here and Ram Naresh got its reward. He was made the Excise Minister of the state. The Samajwadi Party has given ticket to former minister Alok Kumar Shakya against Ramnaresh.

6. Kalyanpur seat of Kanpur: From Kalyanpur seat of Kanpur, BJP has reposed confidence in Minister of State in Yogi government, Neelima Katiyar. Neelima's mother Premlata Katiyar was an MLA here for a long time and later also a minister. This time Neelima's path is going to be very difficult. Former Samajwadi Party MLA Satish Nigam has been fielded against Neelima.

7. Lewis Khurshid from Farrukhabad: This time from Farrukhabad Sadar seat, the Congress has fielded Lewis Khurshid, wife of former Union Minister Salman Khurshid. The sitting MLA from BJP, Major Sunil Dutt Dwivedi has got the ticket against Lewis. At the same time, Samajwadi Party has fielded Suman Maurya, wife of Mahan Dal's national president Keshav Dev Maurya.

8. The reputation of the former police commissioner in Kannauj at stake: Just before the election, the perfume city of Kannauj had become the center of discussion in the whole country. From here the BJP gave ticket to Asim Arun, who was the police commissioner of Kanpur. Asim comes from the downtrodden class. At the same time, the Samajwadi Party has fielded Anil Dohra from here. Let us tell you that in the raid of Kannauj perfume businessman Pushpraj Jain alias Pumpi Jain, Rs 196 crore in cash and jewelery worth more than 20 crore were found. The BJP had alleged that Pampi Jain is a leader of the Samajwadi Party and is close to Akhilesh Yadav.

9. Ramveer Upadhyay from Sadabad seat: This time BSP rebel and former minister Ramveer Upadhyay is in the fray from Sadabad seat of Hathras. Ramveer had recently joined the BJP. Pradeep Chaudhary from SP-RLD alliance and Avin Sharma from BSP are contesting against him.

10. The fate of the minister is also at stake in Sikandra seat: BJP has re-nominated Yogi government's minister of state Ajit Singh Pal from Sikandra seat of Kanpur countryside. Ajit is the Minister of State for IT and Electronics Affairs in the Yogi government. The SP has fielded Prabhakar Pandey against Ajit. At the same time, BSP has given ticket to Auraiya resident Lalji Shukla and Congress has given ticket to Naresh Katiyar.
