Mumbai: Corona cases have started increasing rapidly in Maharashtra again. Mayanagari Mumbai is also now showing signs of the fourth wave. The figures which were running close to 300 till a few days ago, have now gone beyond 700. In the last 24 hours, 739 new cases of corona have been reported in Mumbai. After four months, so many cases of corona have been reported in Mumbai in a single day. If compared with the month of April, there has been a huge increase in corona cases in Mumbai in the month of May.

It can be understood that between April 1 and April 30, 1615 cases of corona were reported in Mumbai. Then the infection rate was also running at just 0.61%. That is, the situation was completely under control and the effect of corona was reduced. But then in the month of May, everything changed rapidly on the ground. The figures are also pointing in the same direction. Between May 1 and May 31, 5888 cases of corona have been reported in Mumbai. The average infection rate has also reached 2.51%. At present, the positivity rate has even crossed 6 percent. In such a situation, once again the situation in Mumbai seems to be explosive.

In the midst of increasing cases, BMC has also given instructions to increase testing. It has been made clear that the number of employees in the testing lab should be increased once again and testing should be started on a war footing. It is also feared that after the arrival of monsoon, there may be more increase in corona cases. In such a situation, there is a preparation to keep the situation under control by adopting only a test-trace policy.

By the way, more than 500 cases were registered in Mumbai yesterday. That figure was also seen after 6 February. But now on Wednesday there has been a big jump in the cases. No one has died, but the infection rate has raised concerns. Mumbai has seen an increase of 264 percent in corona cases in May as compared to April. In the last 24 hours, 1,081 cases have been reported across Maharashtra.
