Can anyone harass Elon Musk, the world's second richest man and owner of the American company Tesla? According to Musk, yes, it is happening. He accused the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of being harassed in the name of endless and unreliable investigations.

Musk has described the long-running investigation by the SEC as a curb on his right to freedom of expression. Alex Spiro, a lawyer for Musk and Tesla, wrote a letter to the Manhattan District Judge making the allegation. Spiro led Musk's company in a 2018 deal with the SEC over a Tesla deal. The controversy originally arose from a tweet by Elon Musk. The tweet was related to a significant purchase by Tesla.

Musk is critical of the US government

Spiro alleged in the letter that US agencies are deliberately targeting Musk as he is outspoken and critical of the government, while continuing its investigation. The lawyer also said that SES' efforts are being made to suppress Musk's voice.

The lawyer's letter comes weeks after Tesla disclosed that the SEC issued an order to it in November 2021. The order was about giving effect to the 2018 agreement.

In fact, Musk tweeted in 2018 that he could buy back Tesla shares at $420 a share and that the money for this transaction was reserved, but the reality was the opposite. The purchase was not going to happen soon. To this the SEC alleged that Musk knew that this large transaction was uncertain and was associated with many risks.
