This year's Kanwar Yatra in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been canceled due to Coronavirus. There were talks between the state government and the Kanwar Sangh regarding the yatra, after which the union decided to cancel the yatra. On the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avnish Awasthi and DGP Mukul Goyal had talks with the Kanwar Sangh.

Recently, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding the Kanwar Yatra. The court had given the Yogi government an opportunity to reconsider. During the hearing, the state government had told the court that there would be no complete ban on Kanwar Yatra in the state, symbolically the Kanwar Yatra would continue. However, in the hearing, the court had asked the UP government to reconsider.

Life of every person most important: Supreme Court

During the hearing, the Supreme Court had said that this is a very important matter for everyone. The life of every person is most important. Religious and other sentiments are subject to fundamental right. At the same time, the central government had also said in the Supreme Court that the Kanwar Yatra should not be allowed to go to Uttarakhand.


Kanwar Yatra has been canceled in many states

This time the Uttarakhand government had banned the Kanwar Yatra. Also, on the previous day, the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan also banned the Kanwar Yatra in the state. Travel has also been banned in Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand.

The government will inform the court about the cancellation of the journey

The matter is now to be heard again in the Supreme Court on Monday, in which the state government will inform about the cancellation of Kanwar Yatra in the month of Sawan. The government can also tell the plan in the court regarding the plan to provide Gangajal to the devotees in the month of Sawan. Last year also, the Kanwar Sangh had agreed not to organize the Kanwar Yatra after talks with the government.
