Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 4 September. He achieved many achievements in his 25-year-long career. Mishra is the only player to take three hat-tricks in the IPL. He played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals.

In his illustrious cricket career of 25 years, Mishra achieved many achievements, including a unique record in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which no other player has been able to make till now.

Continuous injuries forced him to retire

Amit Mishra informed about his decision to retire through an emotional statement. According to news agency ANI, Mishra said,

"These 25 years of my life in cricket have been no less than a memorable moment. I would like to thank the BCCI, administration, Haryana Cricket Association, support staff, my fellow players and my family members from the bottom of my heart, who supported me throughout this journey. I also want to thank all the fans who always encouraged me on the field. Cricket gave me countless memories and I got a chance to learn a lot in life, which I will never forget."

Mishra's career was affected due to continuous injuries, due to which he had to take this difficult decision.

Excellent performance in international cricket

Amit Mishra played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals for the Indian team. In Test cricket, he took 76 wickets in 40 innings at an average of 35.72. In ODIs, he took 64 wickets in 36 matches at an impressive average of 23.63, while in 10 T20 matches, he took 16 wickets.

Unique record in IPL

The magic of Amit Mishra's spin was seen for a long time in IPL. He took 174 wickets in 162 IPL matches at an average of 23.82. Mishra is the only bowler in IPL history to have achieved the feat of taking three hat-tricks. This is a record that no other player has been able to make so far.
