Following the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on Saturday night, President Donald Trump stated that the suspect was carrying multiple lethal weapons. Authorities identified the attacker as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, a resident of Torrance, California. The US Attorney confirmed that the suspect faces charges of weapons possession and assault. During the incident, a Secret Service officer was shot at close range but was saved by his bulletproof vest. Trump later released a video showing the suspect running near security barriers as agents pursued him.

The shooting took place outside the ballroom where Trump and other high-profile guests were gathered.
