Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan. This is the first meeting between the two leaders since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began last year. With PM Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other Indian delegates were also present. A delegation was also present along with President Zelensky of Ukraine.

War is not an issue of politics, it is an issue of humanity, said PM Modi

During this, Prime Minister Modi said, 'The war going on in Ukraine is a big issue for the whole world. It has also had many effects on the whole world. I do not consider it an issue of politics, for me it is an issue of humanity. To solve this, India and personally myself, we will definitely do whatever we can.

The meeting between PM Modi and Zelensky is special in many ways. India has always been trying to convince Western countries and Ukraine that India has basic relations with Russia, but even war is not justified in the present situation. Even in the meeting with PM Modi and Zelensky, probably the same stand of India would have been reiterated by PM Modi once again. Earlier in December 2022, when there was a telephonic conversation between PM Modi and President Zelensky of Ukraine, even then India had said the same thing that war cannot be the solution to anything. The only option is to negotiate peacefully on both sides. Earlier in October 2022 also there was talk between PM Modi and Zelensky.

India has never been in favor of war

PM Modi's meeting with the western countries in Hiroshima and especially the meeting with President Zelensky of Ukraine once again confirms that India is not in favor of war in any way. Although Western countries have always been under pressure on India that the way Russia is imposing war, India should also criticize Russia.

India succeeded in convincing that Russia is an important friend, but war is not justified

Even in the UN, India remained neutral in the bills brought against Russia. In this way, India's foreign policy regarding war has been successful in convincing western countries including America, Ukraine that while India gives importance to traditional friendship with Russia, it also supports western countries on this point. That Russia stop the war and solve the problem by negotiating with Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Hiroshima to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit. Zelensky is traveling so far away from his war-torn country for the first time.
