The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. Anuj Agnihotri has emerged as the topper, securing the All India Rank 1 in this prestigious examination. According to the official notification, Rajeshwari Suve M and Akansh Dhul have secured the second and third positions respectively. The commission has recommended a total of 979 candidates for appointment to various administrative services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS).
Examination Timeline and Selection Process
The recruitment cycle for the UPSC CSE 2025 commenced with the preliminary examination held on May 25 last year. Candidates who qualified the prelims appeared for the Main (Written) examination, which was conducted from August 22 to August 31, 2025. Based on the performance in the written test, 2,736 candidates were shortlisted for the Personality Test (Interview) stage. The interview process began on January 5, 2026, and concluded on February 27, 2026, leading to the final merit list declaration today.
Top 10 Rankers and Merit List Highlights
The merit list features candidates who demonstrated exceptional performance across all three stages of the examination. Following the top three rankers—Anuj Agnihotri, Rajeshwari Suve M, and Akansh Dhul—the other candidates in the top 10 include Raghav Jhunjhunwala (Rank 4), Ishan Bhatnagar (Rank 5), Jinia Arora (Rank 6), A R Raja Mohadeen (Rank 7), Pakshal Secretary (Rank 8), Aastha Jain (Rank 9), and Ujjawal Priyank (Rank 10). These candidates will now undergo foundation training before being assigned to their respective cadres.
Service-wise Allocation of Candidates
Out of the 979 candidates recommended for appointment, specific allocations have been made for the premier services. A total of 180 candidates have been selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Plus, 55 candidates have been allocated to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and 150 candidates have been selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS). The remaining successful candidates will be appointed to various Central Services Group 'A' and Group 'B' posts based on their rankings and preferences.
Category-wise Breakdown of IAS Vacancies
The commission has provided a detailed breakdown of the 180 IAS vacancies filled this year. Out of the total IAS posts, 74 are under the Unreserved (UR) category. The remaining seats are distributed as follows: 18 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 47 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 28 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 13 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). The final appointment of these candidates is subject to the verification of their original documents and medical fitness reports.
Release of Marks and Post-Result Formalities
