Russia-Ukraine War: The ongoing talks between the US and Ukraine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia could prove to be a turning point in global politics. How was the atmosphere during the talks?

During the talks, journalists were allowed to enter the negotiating room for some time. During this, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was seen smiling, while Ukrainian officials sat quietly. No kind of emotions were evident on their faces. The Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia was also present in the talks, behind whom were the flags of the US, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine. None of the officials involved in the talks answered the questions of the journalists, due to which the confidentiality of the talks was maintained.

Ukraine's big attack on Russia

Even before the talks started, Ukraine carried out the biggest drone attack on Russia ever. Russian military officials claimed that their air defense system shot down 337 Ukrainian drones. This attack is being seen as the largest military activity in Europe since World War II.

Russia's response

Russian officials said that two people were killed and 18 people, including three children, were injured in the Ukrainian drone attack. Apart from this, 126 Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the Kursk region and 91 over Moscow. These attacks were also carried out in Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol and Ryazan regions.

Russia's terms and diplomatic position

So far no major concession has been indicated from Russia. The Kremlin says that the war will end only when:

Ukraine abandons its efforts to join NATO.

The areas occupied by Russia are officially accepted as Russian territory.

Is peace possible through talks?

This dialogue between Ukraine and the US is part of the diplomatic initiative taken after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the White House. However, given the position of both sides, it is difficult to say whether any concrete solution will emerge from this dialogue or not. This dialogue can be an important step towards ending the war, but its final outcome will depend on political and strategic strategies.
