Delhi: BJD has announced its support to NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. He has appealed to all the MLAs and MPs of the state to vote for the daughter of Odisha by tweeting. He tweeted., 'I appeal to all the members of Odisha Legislative Assembly to rise above party lines and support Odisha's daughter Draupadi Murmu. Select him to elevate him to the highest office in the country. Earlier on Tuesday evening too, he tweeted and congratulated Draupadi Murmu for making her the presidential candidate. He had tweeted that I was happy when PM Narendra Modi talked to me about Draupadi Murmu. It was a matter of pride for Odisha.

Naveen Patnaik said that I am sure that Draupadi Murmu will be a great example of women empowerment in the country. The BJD leader's announcement of support for Draupadi Murmu has eased the way for NDA's victory. With the support of BJD, it will be easy for Murmu to win the presidential election. Talking about the mathematics of Presidential election, the value of total votes is 10,79,206. NDA needs more than half the votes i.e. 5 lakh 40 thousand votes to win in this election. BJP alone has votes worth 4,59,414. Apart from this, the value of votes of its ally JDU is 22,485 and that of AIADMK is 15,816. Thus the value of the total votes of NDA is 4,97,715.

NDA is short of votes worth only 43 thousand. Talking about BJD, the value of its votes is 31,686. At the same time, the value of votes of Andhra Pradesh's ruling party YSR Congress is 43,450. He has also given signs of support. Apart from this, there is a situation of fragmentation in the opposition, so it does not seem difficult for NDA to win. In fact, there is also a discussion going on that BJP can give ticket to any leader of tribal or minority community, which will be difficult for any party to oppose.

YSR Congress also gave a signal of support

The YSR Congress has 150 members in the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and 33 in the Legislative Council. There are 22 members out of 25 in the Lok Sabha and 6 out of 11 in the Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, support from his side matters and is going to decide the victory of NDA in the presidential election. The NDA has a little less than half of the total 10.79 lakh votes i.e. 5,26,420. It will need the support of parties and independents like YSR Congress and Biju Janata Dal. Mrs. Murmu, who comes under the tribal and women category for the post of President, will also get the benefit of being from Odisha.
