Technical | If you also like to apply WhatsApp Status, then there is good news for you. Actually, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it easier for users to view or track the status of their family and friends. According to a new report, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a feature that will show users status updates within the chat list itself. Let us tell you that till now users are able to see only the message delivery status with single and double ticks and the last message shared with the contact in the WhatsApp chat list. Apart from this, the messaging app also shows whether the message sent by the recipient has been read or not. All this information appears under the contact name. Now, WhatsApp's new feature tracking site WABetaInfo has reported in its report that the company is planning to change this.

This is how the new feature will work

A screenshot of the feature shared by the blog site shows that when the feature comes to the app, WhatsApp users will see a status update with the name of the contact instead of the last message shared. The blog site said that "when a contact uploads a new status update, it will also appear in the chat list: all you need to do is tap on their profile picture to see the status update."

Users will also be able to go back to the old setting

This can prove to be a useful feature for those people who like to share status updates on WhatsApp. The blog site said that users who do not like to view or update status will have the option to go back to the current setting. All status updates have to be turned off just for this.

feature available for android whatsapp beta

It is worth noting that this feature was first reported earlier this year but now WhatsApp has started rolling it out for select beta users. As far as availability is concerned, the blog site says that the feature is available on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.18.17. iOS users are expected to get access to this feature soon.
