According to mythology, when Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, created the universe, he gave a place to everyone in it. To fill the universe, Brahma created all the trees, forests, mountains, rivers and animals. Even after creating all this, Brahma ji was seeing something missing, he could not understand what to do. After much deliberation, he picked up his kamandal and, taking water in his hand, sprinkled it. A beautiful goddess appeared as soon as the water was sprinkled. Who had a veena in one hand, a book in the other. The garland in the third and the fourth hand was in the posture of blessing.

Seeing this scene Brahma ji was pleased. This goddess was said to be of Maa Saraswati. As soon as Maa Saraswati touched the strings of her veena with her fingers, such voices arose from it that all the things in the universe got the tone and rhythm. That day was of Basant Panchami. Since then the worship of Mother Saraswati started in Dev Lok and Mrity Lok.
