Following the India-West Indies Test series, ICC has released new rankings. Young Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal jumped two places to fifth. Meanwhile, Temba Bavuma and Kamindu Mendis each dropped one spot in the top 10.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its latest Test rankings following the conclusion of the two-match Test series between India and West Indies. Top 4 Remain Strong

England's stalwart, Joe Root, continues to hold the coveted spot as the world's number one Test batsman with a rating of 908. He's followed by his compatriot Harry Brook, who sits comfortably at second place with a rating of 868. New Zealand's Kane Williamson holds the third position with an impressive rating of. 950, while Australia's Steve Smith remains at number four with a rating of 816. The positions of these top four batsmen have largely remained unchanged in the latest update.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's Ascent

India's promising young batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has climbed two significant places to reach the fifth spot in the ICC Test rankings. His current rating stands at 791, while this jump comes on the back of his brilliant century in the first innings of the second Test against West Indies. Although he couldn't replicate his form in the second innings, his performance was enough to bolster his rating. The latest rankings have been updated as of October 12.

Setbacks for Bavuma and Mendis

Jaiswal's upward trajectory has consequently pushed down South Africa's Temba Bavuma and Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis by one position each. Temba Bavuma is now at number six with a rating of 790, while Kamindu Mendis has slipped to number seven with a rating of 781. The rest of the top 10 includes Rishabh Pant at number eight, New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell at ninth, and England's Ben Duckett securing the tenth spot.
