Rajnath Singh Slams Pakistan at SCO: Calls for End to Double Standards on Terrorism

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, at the SCO meeting in Bishkek, strongly condemned Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism. He urged SCO nations to take strict action against those providing safe havens to terrorists and held bilateral talks with Chinese and Belarusian counterparts to discuss regional security and cooperation.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday delivered a stern warning to Pakistan over the issue of terrorism during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defense Ministers' meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Making a clear reference to cross-border terrorism supported by Pakistan, he stated that the SCO shouldn't ignore state-sponsored terrorism. Singh emphasized that there is no room for double standards when it comes to combating terrorism and urged member nations to take a firm stand.

Reference to Operation Sindoor and Cross-Border Terror

Addressing the SCO meeting, Rajnath Singh highlighted 'Operation Sindoor' as a testament to India's determination. He stated that the operation showed that terror hubs will no longer enjoy immunity from justified punishment. He asserted that state-sponsored cross-border terrorism is a direct attack on a nation's sovereignty and must not be overlooked. The Defense Minister added that the SCO shouldn't hesitate to demand strict action against those who incite terrorists, provide them shelter, and offer safe havens.

Terrorism as a Threat to Global Order

Rajnath Singh advocated for coordinated and collective global efforts to tackle terrorism, radicalism, and extremism, while he described terrorism as the most serious threat to the emerging world order. According to Singh, the SCO is an organization based on shared values that has consistently condemned such acts and ideologies in the collective fight against terror, while he also touched upon the current geopolitical turmoil, noting that the world is facing increasing unilateralism, conflicts, and instability, leading to significant loss of life and property.

Bilateral Meetings with China and Belarus

On the sidelines of the summit, Rajnath Singh met with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun to review the overall situation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), while he shared his thoughts on social media platform X, expressing satisfaction over the dialogue. Also, he held talks with the Defense Minister of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, while their discussion focused on further strengthening defense cooperation between the two nations. Singh remarked that it's time for those responsible for defense to introspect and take concrete steps to address global instability.

The Defense Minister concluded his address by calling for unity against terrorism and radicalization. He made it clear that SCO nations must take a tough stance against those providing safe havens to terrorists to ensure global peace and stability.
