Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has officially announced the rollout of its latest software update, AtherStack 7, for its popular Rizta and 450 series electric scooters. This comprehensive update brings a suite of new features focused on safety, connectivity, and rider convenience, most notably a voice command system that allows for hands-free operation of various scooter functions. The update is designed to make the riding experience more intuitive and safer for urban commuters.
Seamless Over-the-Air Updates
One of the most significant aspects of this rollout is that it's being delivered via Over-the-Air (OTA) technology. This means that existing owners of the Ather Rizta and 450 series don't need to visit a service center to upgrade their vehicles. The scooter will automatically download and install the update through its built-in internet connection. This ensures that users can access the latest technology and safety enhancements from the comfort of their homes without any manual intervention.
Voice Command Integration for Hands-Free Control
The headline feature of the AtherStack 7 update is the new voice command capability. This allows riders to interact with their scooter using natural, conversational language. Instead of having to touch the screen while riding, which can be distracting, users can now start navigation, make phone calls, control music playback, and perform other essential tasks simply by speaking. The system is specifically engineered to understand common conversational phrases, making it highly user-friendly. For daily city commuters, this feature is particularly valuable as it allows them to keep their hands on the handlebars and their eyes on the road, Notably enhancing overall safety.
Enhanced Safety with Proactive and Pothole Alerts
Beyond voice control, AtherStack 7 introduces Proactive Alerts and Pothole Alerts to the scooter's ecosystem. Proactive Alerts provide real-time information about the vehicle's status and potential hazards, reducing the need for the rider to constantly monitor the display. The Pothole Alerts feature is a standout addition, utilizing the scooter's onboard sensors to identify road hazards like potholes. When a pothole is detected, the system provides a warning through both the screen and voice alerts, while this gives the rider sufficient time to react and avoid the hazard, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidents caused by poor road conditions.
Emergency Response and Security Features
Ather has also prioritized rider safety in the event of an accident with the new Crash Alerts feature. This technology is sophisticated enough to distinguish between minor bumps and serious accidents. In the event of a severe crash, the system automatically sends the rider's live location to their designated emergency contacts. On top of that, the scooter's screen can display emergency contact information to assist bystanders in providing immediate help. For security, the update includes ParkSafe and LockSafe. ParkSafe warns the rider if the scooter is parked in a potential tow-away zone. LockSafe detects suspicious tampering or theft attempts and sends an immediate alert to the owner's smartphone. Owners can even remotely lock or disable the scooter and stop the charging process via the Ather app, providing complete control over the vehicle's security.
