The long-standing dispute surrounding the Bhairana Dadudayal Dham in Jaipur has taken a significant turn as the Sangharsh Samiti announced the postponement of its protest movement. The Shri Dadupalak Bhairana Dham Sangharsh Samiti issued a press note stating that they're now ready to resolve the issue through dialogue, while this decision follows a series of discussions with the local administration and receiving positive assurances from the state government regarding the conservation of the sacred site.
Background of the Conservation Movement
The movement was initially launched on April 5 to demand the protection and preservation of the 500 year old holy penance site of Saint Dadudayal. As the protest intensified, the saints and members of the community escalated their agitation, with several individuals sitting on a rigorous fast unto death starting from April 15, exactly 10 days after the movement began. The primary objective of the struggle has been to ensure that the sanctity and environmental integrity of the Bhairana Dham are maintained for future generations.
Administrative Dialogue and Pending Issues
A significant step toward resolution occurred on May 26 when the committee submitted a formal memorandum to the state government through the district administration. This was followed by a positive round of talks involving the District Collector and other senior officials on the same day, while while the discussions were constructive and led to a consensus on several points, the committee noted that the matter isn't yet fully resolved. There are still technicalities and specific details that require further clarification before a final agreement can be reached.
According to the saints, the administration had proposed certain measures on May 27, including the removal of RIICO from the area and the formation of a dedicated committee to oversee the site's management. However, the Sangharsh Samiti pointed out that detailed information regarding these proposals has not yet been made public, while there is a lack of clarity concerning the structure, jurisdiction, and specific powers of the proposed committee, which remains a point of concern for the saint community.
Reaction to Political Comments and Environmental Stance
The saint community also expressed its strong disapproval of certain negative and political remarks made during the course of the movement on May 27. The committee clarified that its intentions are purely focused on the preservation of religious heritage and the environment. They emphasized that they aren't opposed to development but are seeking a balanced solution that respects both progress and religious sentiments. The Samiti has requested additional time from the district administration for further rounds of negotiation to address these lingering concerns and ensure a transparent process.
Confidence in Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma
A key factor in the decision to postpone the movement is the trust placed in Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. The Sangharsh Samiti stated that the Rajasthan government, under his leadership, has shown sensitivity toward the traditions of saints and religious institutions. They believe that the Chief Minister, being well-versed in religious and cultural matters, will take a just and appropriate decision in the interest of the Dadupalaks, the Bhairana Dham, and the local environment. The committee remains hopeful that through continued dialogue and the Chief Minister's intervention, a permanent and satisfactory solution will be achieved.
