Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his visit to Kushinagar, made a significant announcement regarding the renaming of a prominent locality while launching a scathing attack on the opposition. Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister officially declared that Fazil Nagar in Kushinagar will henceforth be known as Pavagarh. This decision comes following a formal request from the local MLA of Fazil Nagar, which the Chief Minister stated has been accepted by the state government. CM Yogi questioned the relevance of the old name, asking why the place should continue to be called Fazil when it can embrace a historical identity like Pavagarh.

Elimination of Mafia and Disease

In a powerful statement linking public health with law and order, CM Yogi Adityanath remarked that just as the mafia has been eradicated from Uttar Pradesh, the menace of encephalitis has also been eliminated from the region. He drew a parallel between the two, stating, "We've finished both the mosquitoes and the mafia. While mosquitoes brought deadly diseases, the mafia brought unemployment and instability. " He emphasized that the double-engine government has worked tirelessly to ensure that the terror of criminals and the fear of epidemics no longer haunt the citizens of the state.

Critique of Previous Administrations

" He noted that the youth under the age of 25 might not be fully aware of the atmosphere of terror that once prevailed. He recalled the frequent riots that broke out during festivals and specifically mentioned the disturbances in Padrauna. According to CM Yogi, in those times, people who sought justice were often thrown into jail instead of receiving help. He described a period of severe identity crisis where farmers were forced into suicide, and the general public lived in constant fear of criminals and the mafia due to the lack of roads, electricity, and water.

Infrastructure and Development Milestones

Highlighting the transformation of Kushinagar, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 278 development projects with a total investment of 424 crore. He pointed out that Kushinagar, which once lacked basic facilities, now boasts its own Medical College. Plus, he announced that the Agriculture and Technology University in Kushinagar would begin its operations from the current academic session, providing new educational opportunities for the local youth. He contrasted this with the past when there was a lack of quality healthcare and education systems in the district.

Welfare Schemes and Social Impact

The Chief Minister provided detailed statistics on the impact of welfare schemes in the district. He stated that since the double-engine government took office, approximately 90000 poor families in Kushinagar alone have been provided with permanent housing. Also, more than 314000 toilets have been constructed for underprivileged families to ensure dignity and hygiene. CM Yogi concluded by reiterating that the state has moved past the era of mafia raj and is now focused on holistic development and providing a secure environment for every citizen, ensuring that the identity crisis of the past is gone forever.
