A tragic incident has unfolded in the capital city of Jaipur where a young man lost his life following a massive protest organized by the Shri Rajput Karni Sena. The demonstration, which took place on Monday, was aimed at pressing for several demands, including the rollback of University Grants Commission (UGC) policies and various other issues concerning the Savarna society. During the course of this rally, the situation escalated, leading to the injury and subsequent demise of a participant identified as Devraj Singh.
Details of the Incident and Medical Emergency
Devraj Singh, a resident of Palada in the Didwana-Kuchaman district, was actively participating in the rally when his health condition deteriorated Notably. According to the details provided by the organization, the police deployed water cannons on Kalwar Road to manage the protesting crowd. It's alleged that the force of the water cannon strike hit Devraj Singh directly on his chest, causing him to collapse and sustain serious internal injuries. Following the incident, he was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency medical attention. However, as his condition continued to worsen, he was referred to the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. Despite the best efforts of the medical team at SMS Hospital, Devraj Singh passed away during the course of his treatment. It's noted that while his roots were in Palada, his family currently resides in Jaipur.
Press Conference and Allegations by Mahipal Singh Makrana
In the wake of this tragedy, Mahipal Singh Makrana, the President of Shri Rajput Karni Sena, addressed a press conference in Jaipur on Tuesday. During the briefing, Makrana provided details about the deceased youth, stating that Devraj Singh Palada belonged to the OBC category and was from the Ravana Rajput community. He emphasized that despite his community background, Devraj stood in solidarity with the Karni Sena and their cause. Makrana directly blamed the police action for the death, stating that the water cannon discharge on Kalwar Road was the primary cause of the fatal injury to the youth's chest. He informed the media that the members of the organization had just returned from attending the last rites of the deceased.
Demands for Compensation and Threats of Escalation
Mahipal Singh Makrana has issued a stern ultimatum to the state government regarding the incident. He demanded that the government must immediately suspend the officers responsible for the police action that led to the youth's death. He stated that the officials took the life of a young man by deploying water cannons and that while the loss is irreparable, the family must be supported. The Karni Sena has demanded a compensation of 1 crore rupees for the family of Devraj Singh. On top of that, Makrana announced that their own institutions would also provide financial assistance to the bereaved family, while he warned that if the government fails to meet the demand of 1 crore rupees compensation and take action against the officers, the Karni Sena would launch a massive agitation. This would include surrounding the city of Jaipur, laying siege to the Chief Minister's residence, and bringing the entire state of Rajasthan to a standstill through a complete blockade.
