In a significant move to celebrate the Rakshabandhan festival, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced a special gift for the women and girls of the state, while the Chief Minister has issued formal instructions to provide free travel facilities in Rajasthan Roadways buses for a duration of two days. This initiative is designed to ensure that women can travel safely and conveniently to celebrate the festival with their families. Following the state government's approval, the necessary orders have been dispatched to the relevant departments to implement this decision effectively across the state's transport network.

Scope and Duration of the Free Travel Facility

The free travel facility for women and girls will be operational on August 28 and August 29. According to the official directives, this service will be available in almost all categories of buses operated by the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC). However, there are specific exclusions to this rule. The facility won't be applicable to air-conditioned (AC) buses, Volvo buses, or those buses that are operated under All India Permits. For all other ordinary and express category buses, the travel will be completely free of cost for female passengers during the specified period.

Operational Timings and Geographical Limits

Roadways officials have provided detailed information regarding the operational window for this facility, while the free travel period will begin at 12:00 midnight between August 27 and August 28. It will remain in effect until 23:59 midnight between August 29 and August 30. It's crucial for passengers to understand that this benefit is strictly limited to the geographical boundaries of Rajasthan. While women can travel anywhere within the state for free, any travel extending beyond the Rajasthan state border will require the purchase of a ticket for the portion of the journey outside the state, while to maintain records and ensure a smooth process, bus conductors have been directed to issue zero-fare tickets to all women and girls participating in this free travel scheme.
