The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has issued a significant update for lakhs of candidates preparing for the state's most prestigious administrative services. Due to unavoidable administrative reasons, the commission has officially decided to change the date for the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, commonly known as RPSC RAS Prelims 2026. This decision comes as a major development for aspirants who have been tracking the recruitment cycle closely.

Revised Schedule for RAS Prelims and Mains

According to the latest notification, the preliminary examination, which was originally scheduled to be held on November 29, 2026, will now take place on December 6, 2026. The shift in the date is intended to ensure better logistical management and a smooth conduct of the examination across various centers in Rajasthan. Along with the new date for the prelims, the commission has also shared a tentative timeline for the next phase of the selection process. The RPSC RAS Mains Exam 2026 is now proposed to be conducted on May 1 and May 2, 2027. This provides candidates with a clear roadmap for their long-term preparation strategy, allowing them to balance their study plans for both the objective and descriptive stages of the recruitment.

Official Order and Administrative Context

The official notification regarding these changes was released under the authority of Ramniwas Mehta, the Secretary of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission. The commission cited administrative and logistics-related reasons for the rescheduling, emphasizing the need for a fair and efficient examination environment. The update is part of a broader revision of the RPSC exam calendar for the year 2026, affecting multiple departments and recruitment drives.

Rescheduling of Lecturer and APO Exams

The revised calendar also brings changes to other important examinations. The Lecturer-Special Education Competitive Examination, 2026, conducted for the Secondary Education Department, has been moved from its original date of December 6, 2026. Since the RAS Prelims will now be held on that day, the Lecturer exam has been rescheduled to December 8, 2026. This adjustment ensures that there is no conflict for candidates who might be appearing for multiple exams conducted by the commission.

On top of that, the commission has finalized the date for the Assistant Prosecution Officer (Main) Examination, 2026. The APO Mains, which is a critical exam for those in the legal and justice sector, is now scheduled to be held on December 27, 2026. This clarity allows law graduates to focus their final revision efforts on a specific target date.

Guidelines for Candidates

The RPSC has clarified that while the primary dates for these examinations have been set, a more detailed subject-wise and shift-wise timetable will be released on the official website in the coming months. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the RPSC portal to stay updated on the release of admit cards and any further instructions. The commission has assured that all necessary arrangements are being made to facilitate a transparent examination process for all participants. Aspirants should now align their revision cycles with the new dates of December 6, 2026, for Prelims and the proposed dates in May 2027 for the Mains examination.
