A serious case involving the tampering of the recruitment process of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has come to light. In the recruitment organized for the Department of Mines and Geology, the online applications of 3 candidates were withdrawn without their consent. The shocking aspect of this incident is that neither the Commission nor the candidates themselves initiated this withdrawal. Instead, an unauthorized individual tampered with the RPSC portal to remove these three applications. It's suspected that this act was carried out to provide an undue advantage to another individual in the recruitment process, while consequently, the Commission has filed a formal complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Ajmer.
Details of the Assistant Mineral Engineer Recruitment 2024 Case
The matter pertains to the Assistant Mineral Engineer Recruitment 2024. Following the written examination, the Commission had released a list containing twice the number of candidates for the next stage. One of the candidates included in this list informed the Commission via email on January 1, 2026, that they had received an SMS on the evening of December 29, 2025, stating that their application had been withdrawn. The candidate clarified that they had made no such request and demanded the immediate restoration of their application, while interestingly, during that period, RPSC had not opened any link or window for the withdrawal of applications. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, RPSC immediately wrote official letters to the Department of Information Technology and Communication (DoITC) in Jaipur for a detailed technical investigation.
Unauthorized Access and Creation of Fake ID
The technical investigation revealed that this was a well-planned conspiracy. An individual had deliberately and illegally accessed the recruitment portal. It was discovered that just before the applications of the three candidates were withdrawn, a new user was created on the portal at 6:16 PM on December 29, 2025. Following the creation of this unauthorized user, the applications of the three candidates were withdrawn to facilitate an unfair benefit for someone else. The digital forensic investigation has also successfully identified the email ID and the IP address used for this unauthorized access.
Cyber Police Commences Investigation
The Cyber Police Station has registered a case and started an investigation under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertains to cheating, along with Sections 66, 66D, 43, and 43A of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The Secretary of the Commission stated that any accused attempting to influence the examination process by tampering with digital platforms or the recruitment portal won't be spared. The Commission is committed to maintaining the integrity of the recruitment process and ensuring that such cybercrimes are dealt with strictly under the law.
