FOOD POISONING INCIDENT / 18 tourists fell ill after visiting Kerala's Wayanad, eating food in the restaurant

Wayanad (Kerala). Another incident of suspected food poisoning has come to light in Kerala. According to the news, 18 people of a tourist group have suffered health-related problems after eating food from three different restaurants here. An official of Kambalakkad police station said that a group of 23 people had come to Wayanad from Thiruvananthapuram and had taken food from different places in the district on Monday. Therefore, it is not yet known which food from which restaurant was the cause of suspected poisoning, he said. Police also said that the health of all 18 people is stable.

A young woman died due to food poisoning

A few days ago, a 16-year-old girl died and 18 others had to be hospitalized after eating shawarma at a restaurant in Kasaragod, Kerala. According to the police, after this, incidents of allegedly consuming poisoned food have also been reported from Malappuram and Kollam on Monday. However, no one was seriously affected in both the incidents. State Health Minister Veena George had said on Monday that instructions have been given to the Food Safety Commissioner to ensure that the food is cooked cleanly for the customers.

Instructions for serving good quality food

Here, Minister MV Govindan has expressed concern over the serving of toxic food in restaurants. He said that the state government would ensure that good quality food is served in the restaurants of the state. Govindan met the students undergoing treatment at the hospital and said that the government will ensure that quality food is served in hotels across the state. The minister said, the government will conduct inspections across the state to ensure that the food served in the restaurants is of good quality.
