The majority mark for victory in the 101-ward Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation stands at 52. The BJP had been aiming to gain power in the urban body of Kerala's capital for the past 10 years. Although the NDA fell two seats short of the absolute majority, this result represents a substantial achievement for the alliance and indicates its growing presence in Kerala.
