This controversy is not taking its name even after the Karnataka High Court dismissed the petition seeking admission in schools and colleges of the state by wearing hijab. The latest case has come from Uppinangadi in the state where 231 Muslim students refused to appear in the examination without hijab. Students also demonstrated in the campus of Government PU College here. The college administration says that it is mandatory to follow the order of the High Court.

What is the whole matter?

According to reports, the girl students of Government PU College in Uppinangadi, Karnataka had informed the college administration on Friday that they could not appear for the examination without hijab. However, the college administration did not allow the girl students to appear in the examination with hijab citing the order of the High Court. After this a large number of students and girls started protesting in the college premises.

High Court has dismissed the petition

On March 15, 2022, the Karnataka High Court had dismissed a petition on behalf of girl students seeking admission in school-college wearing hijab. The High Court had said in its decision that hijab is not an essential part of religion. The compulsion regarding school uniform is a proper management and the student or girl students cannot deny it. The High Court had said that wearing hijab is not mandatory in Islam.

Supreme Court will hear

Hearing on the petitions against the decision on the Hijab dispute by the Karnataka High Court can start soon in the Supreme Court. According to the information, the court can hear the matter after Holi.
