Cricket Rule / A big change in catch catch rules, no fielder will be able to do this now

There has been a big change in the catch rules in cricket. Now the fielder will be able to bounce the ball outside the boundary only once. Also, the catch will be valid only when both the players are inside the boundary. The decision has been taken after Michael Nesar's disputed catch.

Cricket Rule: Fielders' contribution to cricket often disappears, but the foundation of winning the match is laid many times with their agility and agility. Great catch, ability to save runs and accurate run out - all of these make the fielders secret weapons of any team. In view of this importance, the oldest patron of cricket, Merilborn Cricket Club (MCC) and International Cricket Council (ICC), are now going to make a big change in some rules related to fielding.

Now only one bounce allowed outside the boundary

Till now it was seen that the fielders used to stand on the boundary line and go out of the boundary themselves, bouncing the ball in the air, then bounced the ball in the air and came inside the boundary and completed the catch. This technique was many times unfortunate for the opposing batsman.

Now under the new rule, if the fielder goes outside the boundary, he can bounce the ball only once. After this, he will have to come inside the boundary immediately and complete the catch. If the second bounce or delay, the catch will be considered invalid.

New strictness for two players catch

Earlier it was seen that a fielder used to bounce the ball in the air and give it to the second fielder, but was outside the field itself. Now this method has also been stopped. The new rule says that such a catch will not be considered valid until both the players are inside the field. That is, now it is mandatory for 'Teamwork Catch' to be inside the boundary.

Michael Neser's controversial catch questioned the rules

There has been a major controversy in the background of these new rules. In the 2022 Big Bash League, Australian player Michael Neser took a catch in which he caught the ball out of the boundary and then catch inside. The umpire considered it valid, but there was a sharp debate among cricket fans and experts.

Following the dispute, the ICC appealed to MCC to review the catch rules, and now the same review will be included in the MCC rules from October 2026, while the ICC has already prepared to implement it from next month.

Trying to maintain the soul of the game

Technical growth in cricket and increasing agility of players have challenged many rules. The purpose of these new changes is not only to make the game more transparent, but also strengthen the spirit of 'fair play'. Now the fielders will have to pay attention to their strategy as well as their timing and positioning-because a moment's lapse can now change the entire match.
