This progress has come after the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to New Delhi, which has raised hopes of reducing the border tensions that have been going on for almost five years.

Wang Yi's visit to India and important talks

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that this agreement was made possible during Wang Yi's visit to India on August 18 and 19, 2025. During this, Wang held in-depth discussions with India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Apart from this, he also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shared understanding and border management

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told the press briefing that the two sides agreed to revitalize dialogue mechanisms in various fields, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, promote multilateralism, and oppose unilateral actions. Putting special emphasis on the border issue, Mao Ning said, “The two sides have reached a new shared understanding on normal management and control of the border, maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas, and resuming border dialogue under appropriate circumstances.”

Improving strategic relations
