Reliance Industries and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced plans for huge capital investments in the state. Historic investment by Reliance Industries

Anant Ambani, the younger son of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government during the World Economic Forum for an investment of Rs 3.05 lakh crore. This investment will boost sectors like new energy, retail, hospitality and high-tech manufacturing in the state.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on this agreement, "This investment of Reliance Industries will prove to be a milestone for the economic and industrial development of Maharashtra. This will create more than 3 lakh employment opportunities and will give a new direction to the development of the state."

Big announcement by Amazon Web Services

Along with Reliance's investment, Amazon's cloud computing arm Amazon Web Services (AWS) has also announced to invest $8.3 billion (about Rs 71,800 crore) in Maharashtra by 2030. Under this investment, cloud computing infrastructure in Maharashtra will be further strengthened.

With this investment of AWS:

81,300 full-time jobs will be created.

It will contribute $15.3 billion to India's GDP.

The supply chain of local data centers will be strengthened.

This MoU was signed during the World Economic Forum held in Switzerland. AWS has already invested $3.7 billion in Maharashtra between 2016 and 2019.

Expressing happiness over the investment of AWS, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Our aim is to make Maharashtra the world capital of data centers. This collaboration with Amazon Web Services will take our IT infrastructure to new heights. This investment will not only spur the state’s digital future but also create new opportunities for innovation, economic growth and employment.”
