Delhi: People are breathing a sigh of relief due to the non-increasing prices of diesel and petrol for the last few days. However, this relief is not going to last for long. After record retail and wholesale inflation, now diesel-petrol is soon going to lighten the pockets of the common people. The reason for this is that very soon the prices of diesel-petrol are going to increase again. Sources even say that this time the increase in the price of diesel will be more than that of petrol.

Diesel-petrol prices will increase by this much rupees

Government sources informed Aaj Tak's affiliate channel Business Today TV about this. Sources said that this time also the retail prices of diesel and petrol will not increase in one stroke, but they will be increased gradually as before. This time the only difference is going to be that the price of diesel is going to increase more than that of petrol. The reason for this is that the government companies selling oil are incurring more losses on diesel than on petrol. He said that the price of diesel could increase by Rs 3-4, while petrol could be costlier by Rs 2-3.

Right now companies are suffering so much

Another source said that the final decision on how much the price will increase will be taken soon. Although government companies selling oil are incurring a loss of Rs 25-30 per liter in case of diesel and Rs 9-10 in case of petrol, their prices will be increased to some extent, it is certain. Talking about the current prices of diesel and petrol, petrol is currently being sold at Rs 105.41 a liter in Delhi. Similarly, the current price of diesel is Rs 96.67 a litre.

Diesel-petrol prices have not increased since 40 days

Diesel and petrol prices were not being increased after November due to assembly elections in five states. A few days after the elections to the five states were over, the prices of both the fuels started increasing continuously. During 22 March to 06 April, the prices of diesel and petrol were increased 14 times. After this, their prices have not been increased for the last 40 days. Now again this relief is about to disappear.

So much spent on crude oil imports in FY22

India buys 80 percent of its crude oil requirement from other countries. Most of this crude oil comes from West Asian countries and America. India buys only 2% crude oil from Russia. India is the second largest importer of crude oil. According to data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell, India had to spend $ 119.2 billion on buying crude in the financial year 2021-22. Earlier, in 2020-21, India's crude oil import bill was $ 62.2 billion.
