Delhi / Air quality improved marginally to reach very poor category aqi may reach dangerous level in next two days

New Delhi : The pollution situation in the capital Delhi is getting worse. A thick layer of smog covered the sky of Delhi on Thursday. Due to this, while the atmosphere remained suffocating throughout the day, the visibility level has also been affected. The visibility level at Delhi's Safdarjung Meteorological Center was only 600 meters at 3.30 pm.

This phase of pollution is becoming very dangerous for the people of Delhi. Light fog was observed in most parts of Delhi in the morning. But, smog and pollution together have become smog which has started setting in the sky of Delhi. Due to the low wind speed, this smog is staying on the sky of Delhi for a long time.

Due to this people are facing problems like breathing problem, suffocation, sore throat and nose, burning in eyes. At the same time, the visibility level has also been affected due to smog. According to the Meteorological Department, the visibility level at Safdarjung Meteorological Center was 800 meters at 5.30 am.

The visibility level was similar at 8.30 am also. But, as the day progressed, the smog got thicker. Visibility level stood at 600 meters at 3.30 pm. Whereas, in general it should have been from two thousand to three thousand meters.

Delhi's air in critical condition again

There was a slight improvement in the air quality on Wednesday due to the increase in wind speed. Delhi's average air quality index stood at 372. But, on Thursday it increased rapidly. Within 24 hours, the index rose by 39 points and the average index reached a mark of 411. This level of air is classified as severe. The air in most areas of Delhi is in the severe category.

Parali's share is 26 percent

According to the Centre-run organization Safar, due to the direction of the wind being north-west, stubble smoke is coming towards Delhi. On Thursday, the share of stubble smoke in Delhi's pollution was 26 percent. Whereas, three thousand 914 incidents of stubble burning have been registered in Punjab and Haryana.

more than four and a half times more pollution

At present, there is four times more pollution than the standards in the air of the capital Delhi. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the amount of pollution particulate PM 10 stood at the mark of 449 at 5 pm on Thursday. Whereas, the amount of PM 2.5 remained at the level of 263 micrograms per cubic meter. According to the standards, the amount of pollutant particulates in the air is considered fit for health only when the amount of PM 10 is less than 100 and the amount of PM 2.5 is less than 60.

no relief yet

The people of Delhi are yet to expect relief from the horrific pollution. Pollution conditions will remain more or less in the absence of any major weather activity. The Air Quality Index is likely to remain in the severe or very poor category for the next two days.
