Team India Chief Selector: Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar will now select India's team for Asia Cup, World Cup. He has become the chief selector of Team India. BCCI announced this on Tuesday. A 3-member CAC committee comprising Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranipe had conducted the interview and then recommended Agarkar's name. For the last several days, his name was also being discussed for the post of selector. Now the board has approved it. He will take over the responsibility in place of Chetan Sharma. In fact, some time ago Chetan Sharma came into controversy after a sting operation, due to which he had to leave his post.

Record of fastest fifty

The former Indian all-rounder played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs and 4 T20 matches for the country. He was also a part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007. The record of the Indian batsman who scored the fastest fifty in ODIs is still in his name. In the year 2000, he hit Fifty in 21 balls against Zimbabwe. Not only this, the record of taking the fastest 50 wickets in ODIs was also in his name for a long time. He achieved this feat in 23 matches.

Agarkar was also the coach of Delhi Capitals

After retiring from cricket, he became the chief selector of the senior team of Mumbai. At the same time, he was also a part of the coaching staff of Delhi Capitals. He was the assistant bowling coach. Recently, he had resigned from his post.

Agarkar had a great career

The former India all-rounder represented the country in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs and four T20 Internationals apart from playing 110 First, 270 List A and 62 T20 matches. As a former fast bowler, he was part of India's victorious team in the first T20 World Cup held in South Africa in 2007. He still holds the record for the fastest half-century by an Indian batsman in ODIs, which he scored in 21 balls against Zimbabwe in 2000. He also held the record for the fastest 50 ODI wickets for almost a decade, and achieved the feat in just 23 matches.
