After the match, an interview of his went viral on social media, in which he shared the challenges of his early days and his passion for cricket.

Akash Deep's painful journey

Born in Baddi village near Sasaram in Rohtas district of Bihar, Akash Deep's journey to become a cricketer was full of thorns. His father, late Ramji Singh, was a school teacher who dreamed of giving his children a better future through education. In an interview with YouTube channel Sports Launchpad, Akash said, “My father was a teacher, and it was difficult to return home late at night after playing cricket. After participating in night tournaments, it would often get so late that we would sleep on the field and return home in the morning.”

Cricket was not taken seriously in the village. Akash had to play cricket secretly as people there considered it a waste of time. He revealed, “Parents would ask their children to stay away from me, as they felt that playing cricket would spoil the future. They had no knowledge about this game.” Despite this social pressure and lack of awareness, cricket was not just a game for Akash, but his passion.

Personal tragedies and financial challenges

Aakash's life became even more difficult when he lost his father at the age of 19 and his brother a few months later. Cricket became his only support in this sad phase. The financial constraints of the family and the lack of cricket facilities in the village created many obstacles for him, but Akash did not give up. His commitment and hard work made him travel from Bihar to Bengal, where he got a chance to play domestic cricket due to the ban on Bihar Cricket Association. In Bengal, he honed his talent and gradually made his mark at the national level.
