UAE Qualifies by Defeating Japan
In a crucial Super Six match held on October 16 at the Al-Amarat Cricket Ground, the UAE team secured its berth in the T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating Japan, while opting to bowl first after winning the toss, UAE successfully restricted Japan to a total of 116 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target, UAE's opening batsmen Alishan Sharafu and captain Muhammad Waseem provided a solid start, forging a 70-run partnership for the first wicket, while this strong opening allowed UAE to comfortably chase down the target in just 12. 1 overs, losing only two wickets, while with this victory, UAE became the final team to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026. Earlier, on October 15, Nepal and Oman had also secured their places. Through the qualifier rounds, bringing the total to 19 teams before UAE's win.
