Seoul: In response to North Korea's latest missile launches, South Korea and the United States on Sunday tested 8 missiles, Yonhap news agency reported. The news agency quoted the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) on Monday morning as saying that the missiles were tested "at various targets".

According to the JCS statement, 'South Korea and the United States jointly conducted test firing of surface-to-surface missiles. This has ensured that our defenses have the capability and proficiency to launch immediate and precise counter-attacks in the event of any provocation.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff statement further said, "Our forces (South Korea and the United States) strongly condemn North Korea's provocative actions through ballistic missile tests and solemnly urge it to do so." Immediately cease actions that increase military tensions and security concerns on the peninsula.


Kim Jong Un tested more than 100 missiles in 10 years

Seoul officials have warned that Pyongyang's military provocations will be met with appropriate responses. Quad leaders condemn North Korea's missile test

Meanwhile, during the Quad summit in Tokyo last month, leaders condemned ballistic missile launches that "destabilized" North Korea's territory and called on the international community to abide by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions was. "We condemn North Korea's ballistic missile development and launch and call for the full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions," the Quad leaders said in a joint statement.
