IPL 2020 / Andre Russell shatters camera glass during practice, KKR share video

Cricket Desk: Going into the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) can take heart from the fact that the last time the tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), they emerged as the champions. One of the key players for them, without a shred of a doubt, would be Andre Russell, the hulk-like all-rounder from the Caribbean Islands.

When Dre-Russ hits the leather, it stays hit. Even his mishits tend to clear the ropes more often than not, and when he finds the sweet-spot of the willow, the ball ends up in the stands and roofs of venues. In the 2019 edition, he turned out to be the Most Valuable Player (MVP), albeit the Knight Riders couldn’t make the playoffs after losing six matches in a row.

Russell had scored over 500 runs, averaging over 50 and striking in excess of 200. The Jamaican also smacked as many as 52 sixes. It’s also pertinent to note that he was the leading wicket-taker for the Men in Gold and Purple last season. Needless to say, that KKR would again be looking up to Dre-Russ for some muscular knocks in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

Andre Russell gearing up to show his power   

He was in jaw-dropping form for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), though his team couldn’t qualify for the semis. Russell is expected to play in KKR’s first match on Wednesday, September 23 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It remains to be seen how he turns up in the crucial encounter.

Russell doesn’t believe much in technique and rather uses his brute force to send the bowlers to the cleaners. In the meantime, KKR’s official Twitter handle uploaded a video where Russell can be seen, flexing his muscles. In the clip, Russell played some powerful strokes and also broke one of the camera glasses.

The Knights captioned the video and wrote, “Oh gosh! That’s SMASHED – wait for the last shot.. #MuscleRussell warming up to his devastating best! @Russell12A #KKRHaiTaiyaar #Dream11IPL.” The KKR fans must be waiting for the big man to unleash his shots.
