Anurag Thakur wrote, 'I feel extremely happy and honored to announce that Waheeda Rehman ji is being honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award this year for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.'

Waheeda Rehman started her acting career with Telugu films. She used to do more item numbers in films. One day Gurdutt's eyes fell on Waheeda Rehman and his luck changed.
