Apart from Raghav Chadha, the six AAP MPs who joined the BJP are all big names

The list of defectors includes prominent figures such as Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, and Swati Maliwal. This move is seen as a significant shift in the political landscape, affecting the party's representation in the Rajya Sabha.

Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak Join BJP

Raghav Chadha, one of the most prominent young faces of the Aam Aadmi Party, has left the party to join the BJP. Chadha is a Rajya Sabha MP and has previously served as an MLA in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. A Chartered Accountant by profession, he played a crucial role in the party's financial and strategic planning, while he's widely recognized for his clean image and effective oratory skills.

Joining him is Sandeep Pathak, who was considered a cornerstone of AAP's organizational structure. Pathak, also a Rajya Sabha MP, served as the National General Secretary (Organization), while an IIT alumnus, he was instrumental in the party's national expansion and the formulation of its electoral strategies across various states.

Educationist Ashok Mittal and Cricketer Harbhajan Singh

Ashok Mittal, a renowned educationist and industrialist, has also resigned from AAP. As the founder of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Mittal represented the party in the Rajya Sabha and was active in advocating for higher education reforms. He has now officially taken up membership with the BJP.

Former Indian cricketer and legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has also made the move to the BJP. After a stellar international cricket career where he led India to numerous victories, Singh entered politics and became a Rajya Sabha member. Known for his aggressive and passionate persona on the field, he has now transitioned his political allegiance.

Industrialists Rajinder Gupta and Vikramjit Singh Sahney

Rajinder Gupta, a prominent Indian industrialist born on January 2, 1959, has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party. Gupta is the founder of the Trident Group, which operates in the textiles, paper, and chemicals sectors. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2007 for his contributions to trade and industry. He became a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab on an AAP ticket in 2025.

Vikramjit Singh Sahney, an industrialist and social worker, has also left the party. Sahney, who heads the Sun Foundation and served as a Rajya Sabha MP for AAP, has now joined the ranks of the BJP along with his colleagues.

Swati Maliwal and Recent Developments

Social activist and politician Swati Maliwal has also joined the BJP. The former Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Maliwal has been a vocal advocate for women's rights and various public interest issues, while her departure follows recent reports of a dispute between her and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.
