Arunachal Pradesh | A laborer has died and 18 are reported missing along the Indo-China border in Kurung Kume district of Arunachal Pradesh. Deputy commissioner Bengia Nighi said that all of them were working on a road project here and have been missing since July 5. He told that all the laborers are residents of Assam.

The deputy commissioner said, “The contractor had brought 19 laborers from Assam to build the road. The area is located at a distance of 150 km from the district headquarters Koloriang. We got information on July 13 that all the laborers were missing from the work site. Soon after, we launched a search operation. They could not be traced despite searches in the surrounding forests and other roads. On Monday, the body of one of those laborers was recovered from the Furak river."

Fear of death due to drowning in river

It is feared that all the laborers must have died due to drowning in the Kumi river. This apprehension has gained even more strength after a dead body was found. At present, the rescue work is going on. It is not known when these laborers drowned in the river. His family members also do not have any information. It is being told that a few days ago all of them had left for home on foot. Kumi river falls on the way. There must have been an accident while crossing it.

Went home on foot on Eid

According to media reports, these laborers wanted to go to their homes on the occasion of Eid. For this he sought leave from the contractor but he refused. After this, these people left for their home on foot. Now officially the news of his disappearance has come to the fore. The police administration says that the missing laborers are being searched.

The dead body is not found... it is also feared

After several days have passed since the accident, it is also feared that the bodies of many of them may not be found. However, nothing can be said with certainty as of now. It is known that there has been heavy rain in the Northeast in the past. Due to this, there are flood situations in many areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Mizoram. Also the rivers are in spate.
