Cricket | The All India Junior Selection Committee has announced a 17-member Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup to be played in the West Indies from January 4 to February 5, 2022. In the 14th edition of the tournament, 16 teams will compete in the World Cup. A total of 48 matches will be played in the tournament. Delhi batsman Yash Dhal has been made the captain of the team. SK Rashid of Andhra Pradesh has been made the vice-captain. Haryana's Dinesh Bana and UP's Aaradhya Yadav have been included in the team as wicketkeepers.

The selectors have also decided to send five standby players to the World Cup. Rishi Reddy, Uday Saharan, Ansh Gosai, Amrit Raj Upadhyay and PM Singh Rathore will accompany the team as standboys. India are placed in Group B along with South Africa, Ireland and Uganda. India will start their campaign against South Africa on January 15 in Guyana and then take on Ireland and Uganda in Trinidad and Tobago on January 19 and 22.

India has won the Under-19 World Cup 4 times. They are the team that has won the Under-19 World Cup the most times. He has won this tournament in the years 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018. India was runner-up in 2016 and runner-up in the last Under-19 World Cup played in New Zealand.
