Team India Sponsors / BCCI broke ties with Dream 11, held its ears, took a big decision

The world's richest cricket board BCCI has broken the agreement with Dream11 after the online gaming bill was passed. Secretary Devjit Saikia made it clear that in future no relationship will be established with such companies. Now the question is who will be the new sponsor before the Asia Cup.

Team India Sponsors: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is the richest cricket board in the world, has recently taken a big decision. The BCCI has ended its agreement with its major fantasy sports partner Dream 11. This decision has been taken after the recently passed Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill. Under this bill, the rules related to online gaming and fantasy sports have been made more stringent, due to which the BCCI decided to end its relationship with Dream 11.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia took a clear stand on this decision and said, "We will not work with such companies in future." This statement shows that the BCCI now plans to maintain distance from companies related to fantasy gaming and online betting.

Dream 11 and BCCI's broken contract

The relationship between Dream 11 and BCCI started in the year 2023. There was a big contract between the two till 2026, under which Dream 11 had to pay Rs 358 crore to BCCI. However, after the implementation of the new rules, this agreement ended prematurely. This decision has caused financial loss to the BCCI, but the board has described it as in line with its policies and values.

Meanwhile, another fantasy partner of BCCI, My11Circle, is still associated with the board. This company is the official fantasy partner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and pays Rs 125 crore to the BCCI every year. Now the question is who will be the next big partner of BCCI after Dream11 leaves, especially for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Who will hold the hand of BCCI?

It may soon be clear which company's name will be seen on Team India's jersey now. According to reports, many big companies are ready to sign an agreement with BCCI. These include big names like Tata, Reliance, and Adani. Tata is already the title sponsor of IPL, while Reliance Jio has a strong presence in the field of broadcasting. Apart from this, fintech companies like Grow and Zerodha are also in this race.

Automobile sector giants like Mahindra and Toyota are also keen to partner with BCCI. Also, global brands like Pepsi are also said to be involved in this race. Given the competition between these companies, it would not be wrong to say that choosing BCCI's next partner will be an interesting process.

BCCI's future and new direction

This decision of BCCI is not only important from an economic point of view, but it is also a big step towards promoting ethics and transparency in cricket administration. By breaking ties with platforms like Dream 11, BCCI has given the message that in future it will maintain distance from companies that are associated with online gaming or betting.
