Delhi: The Beating the Retreat ceremony to mark the end of the parade after Republic Day has started at Vijay Chowk. Many big leaders including President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have participated in this ceremony. The chiefs of the three services are also present at the ceremony. In this ceremony, the three armies of the country will play 29 classical tunes. Along with this, country's biggest drone show will be held on this occasion. This drone show will feature 3500 drones made in India.

Flags are lowered as part of the celebrations in the evening. Rashtrapati Bhavan, North Block, South Block and Parliament House are all decorated with lights during Beating the Retreat.

Why is Beating the Retreat held after Republic Day?

Let us tell you that Beating the Retreat Ceremony is considered a symbol of the army's return to the barracks. The President of India is the chief guest at this function. As soon as the President arrives, the National Anthem Jana-Gana-Mana starts by giving him the National Salute, the tricolor is hoisted. After this, the bands of the three services march together to the traditional tune. The bugle of retreat sounds after the band playing of all the three armies. After this the band master goes to the President and asks for permission to take the band back. With this, the programs to be held on the occasion of Republic Day are considered officially over.
