Ben Stokes Retirement: Before the 2023 ODI World Cup, England star, world champion, biggest match winner Ben Stokes has withdrawn his retirement. On 18 July 2022, Stokes had announced to quit ODI cricket. But after about 13 months, once again he has returned to ODI cricket. This has happened when the England team will enter the ODI World Cup to be held in India from October 5 as defending champions. Ben Stokes had a huge contribution in making England the champion in the year 2019. He scored a match-winning 84 in the final against New Zealand.

England Cricket released the squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against New Zealand on Wednesday afternoon. One name in the ODI squad was the shocking Ben Stokes. He has made a comeback from his retirement. Recently, before the Ashes, Moeen Ali had withdrawn his retirement from the Test but after the Ashes, he again took his retirement from the Test. Ben Stokes had earlier played 105 ODIs for England scoring 2924 runs and taking 74 wickets. Now once again Stokes can spread his fire in the upcoming World Cup.

What did the selector say on the return of Stokes

England Cricket released two squads of 15-15 members each. Many uncapped players have also entered it. The England team will play a four T20 match series against New Zealand from 30 August to 5 September. After that a series of four ODIs will also be played. Apart from Ben Stokes, Surrey pacer and uncapped player Gus Atkinson has also been included in England's ODI squad. While Atkinson, Josh Tongue and John Turner have been given a chance in the T20 series. On the selection of Stokes, National Chief Selector Luke Wright said that, I am sure that all the cricket fans will be happy with the return of Stokes. His arrival will not only bring quality to our team but will also strengthen the team in leadership.
